Waikato roofs grow stuff. The damp, the trees, the bird droppings — give it a winter and your nice clean coloursteel looks like a science experiment. The fix isn't blasting it (you'll wreck the coating). It's soft-wash treatment that kills the moss and lichen at the root.
What's involved
- Visual inspection — flag any loose bits or trim issues we spot.
- Soft-wash chemical applied across the roof, with extra hits on the heavy moss patches.
- Dwell time. Sometimes the moss continues lifting for weeks after.
- Gentle low-pressure rinse where appropriate.
- Gutters cleared by hand into bags. Downpipes flushed.
- Pack down, sweep up, gone.
"Transformed our roof. Jimmy recommended it needed more than a roof treatment and I'm very pleased I agreed, looks amazing." — Google review
How often you should do it
For most Waikato homes, every 2–3 years is plenty for the roof treatment. Gutters more often — annually if you have big trees nearby, every other year otherwise.
What it costs
Roof treatment + gutter clean on a standard single-storey home usually starts around $350–$450 depending on roof shape and how much moss is on it. Phone with the address and we'll quote.
